We reviewed the Sony NW-WS413 previously and one of the main complaint we had was the lack of Bluetooth connectivity which really restricted the earphone’s potential as most users are streaming music from their mobile devices even while working out.
With the new WS623 Sports Walkman, Sony is addressing this issue by finally including Bluetooth and NFC connectivity to its popular Walkman sports MP3 player.
Design-wise, the WS623 looks very similar to the WS413. It features an ergonomic, slim and light design and is IP68-certified (when with waterproof earbuds attached) – allowing you to swim for up to 30 mins to a depth of 2 meters. The WS623 Walkman is also salt waterproof and can also endure extreme temperatures from -5°C to 45°C – although we personally don’t think music enjoyment should be a priority for people in such extreme conditions!
Similar to the WS413, the WS623 also has a Ambient Sound Mode that lets you pick up external voices and sounds in the surrounding environment, giving you more awareness of the surroundings. One feature we really like is the QuickCharge function that provides up to 60 minutes of listening time with just 3 minutes of charging.
The WS623 Walkman® will be available at all Sony Stores, Sony Centres and selected Sony authorised dealers from May 2017 at $199. Learn more about the WS623 Walkman here.
