Netflix Now Supports HDR on Windows 10

Netflix the leader in streaming service announced HDR support on Windows 10 for both the Edge browser and the Netflix app.

Netflix has over 200 hours of HRD content including Chef’s Table, Stranger Things 2 and the upcoming Netflix film Bright starring Will Smith, with more coming in 2018.

HDR a.k.a. High Dynamic Range heightens the dynamic range of a video source, making it more vibrant and closer to life. While HDR is common in TVs, few PCs/mobile devices support the standard with the need of an Intel’s 7th generation and higher CPUs needed to play the Netflix HDR10 encodes.

Hopefully with the Windows 10 support, we will see more hardware devices and software maker support the HDR standard.
